Full Moon in Taurus
October 26th 2026: The Roots Come Back
The Hunter’s Moon is full in Taurus on Monday October 26th at 04.12 GMT. After two lunations with no earth, the roots are returning. The Harvest Moon was all fire and air. The Libra New Moon gave us scales with nothing to stand on.
Now the Moon walks into Taurus, the most earthed place in the zodiac. This is the Moon at her most fed, most rested, most at home in a body. After weeks of wind and argument, there is ground under our feet again. Don’t mistake that for an easy ride. This full Moon sits on a fixed T-square, nailed to Pluto, with Mercury retrograde. It’s grounded, yes. It’s also immovable. Earth gives you roots, and roots don’t negotiate.
SHAMANIC JOURNEY TO THE TAURUS HUNTER MOON
Mine, and Ours
The Sun in Scorpio opposes the Moon in Taurus, the axis of possession. Taurus is what I have: what I can physically hold, what I’ve worked for, my body, my bread, my patch. Scorpio is what we share and what binds us: the joint account, the debt, the inheritance, the marriage bed, the grave. Taurus says keep it. Scorpio says nothing is kept forever. Between them they hold the polarity between security and surrender, and we’re all somewhere on that line.
The Hunter’s Moon knows it. This was the moon when the animals came down for winter and our ancestors had to decide which could be fed through to spring and which could not. The rest were killed for food. Hard, unsentimental, necessary.
Taurus does the stock check. Scorpio decides what won’t make it through. With Samhain a few nights away, this Moon asks the same question of us. What are you carrying into winter? the commitments, the possessions, the grievances, the habits. You can’t keep everything alive till spring, now is the time to choose.
Four creatures on the fixed cross
The Sun in Scorpio opposes the Moon in Taurus, and both square Pluto in Aquarius. A fixed T-square, with Pluto at the apex. Pluto turned direct on October 16th in Aquarius and has barely moved since. A stationary planet at the point of a T-square is a weight that doesn’t shift.
The empty arm of the cross falls in Leo, the missing fire, yet Leo isn’t empty, Mars and Jupiter are both there at later degrees. The whole fixed cross is lit, the Bull, the Eagle, the Water-Bearer and the Lion. The four living creatures of Ezekiel’s vision, the four evangelists, the four figures in the corners of the World and the Wheel of Fortune in the tarot. Completion, and the wheel turning. That’s the message of this sky.
Pluto in Aquarius is power in the hands of the many, and power in the hands of the networks and machines that claim to speak for them. Squaring this axis, it presses on the fundamentals. Who owns the bread? Who owns the land? Who holds the debt?
Across much of Europe people have been on the streets over rising costs of food and rent not matched by wages. On the West Bank, people have been detained for helping Palestinian farmers bring in their olive harvest. Land, food, harvest and control. Taurus, Scorpio and Pluto, playing out in real time.
In your own life the pressure may land in your body, or your bank balance, or the places where someone else has a hand on what you thought was yours. Fixed signs under pressure dig in. They grip harder. Pluto will happily wait you out. The way through a fixed T-square is the empty arm, and here that arm is Leo. The heart.
Courage, generosity, play, the willingness to be seen. Mars brings nerve and Jupiter brings generosity. When you feel yourself clenching around what’s yours, give something away. Create something, bake something. Laugh. It loosens the grip faster than an argument.
The stubborn messenger
On Saturday Mercury turned retrograde in Scorpio, squaring Mars and Jupiter in Leo. Fixed water against fixed fire. Old conversations come back re-ignited. Pride gets involved. Someone wants to be right more than they want to be understood, it may well be you!
Let the retrograde do what it’s good at. Revisit, re-read, re-think. Say the thing again, more slowly, with less heat. Mercury turns direct on November 13th. Until then, assume the first version of any story is missing a vital chapter.
Venus comes up the stairs
Under all this weight, sits something beautiful. Over the weekend Venus passed between the Earth and the Sun. She went down as the evening star and she’ll rise again as the morning star, visible before dawn in the coming weeks. In the old stories this is the turn in the underworld, the moment Inanna is brought back to life and starts her long climb up from the depths.
On Sunday she stepped back into Libra, landing on its last degree. Venus rules Taurus, so this full Moon is staring straight across the sky at her own ruler, newly reborn at the side of the Sun. In Libra, Venus has her resources back. She can weigh, adjust, set the boundary cleanly and put a stop to whatever’s been doing harm in your relationships. She is still retrograde until mid-November, still separating from her square to Pluto, still asking for honesty before harmony. But the descent is overand the re-balancing has begun.
Natural steps up to a lawn blooming with clover
The Sabian symbol for this Moon is ‘natural steps up to a lawn blooming with clover’.
No grand staircase or landscaped garden. Just a few rough steps, worn into the slope by many feet over the years, and at the top a bountiful lawn humming with bees.
Clover is a wonderful and humble plant. It turns up uninvited and does something quite miraculous. Bacteria living in its roots draw nitrogen out of the air and gives it to the soil. Air turned into earth. Clover feeds the ground it grows in. With Pluto in air pressing down on the Moon in earth, it’s a good lesson. Take what’s in the air, the ideas, the fears, the endless talk, and put it into the ground where it can grow into something abundant and useful.
The symbol promises it, just a few steps away. Not an epic climb, a few steps. Abundance in this image is a practice. You walk up. You take your shoes off. You keep walking up, every day.
Across the sky the Sun’s polar symbol is ‘a house-raising party in a small village enlisting the neighbours’ cooperation’. The whole village turns out to get a roof on before winter. Nobody raises a house or gets through a hard winter alone. This is the Moon’s axis, Taurus provides. Scorpio binds. The lawn feeds you and the neighbours shelter you. Both depend on you showing up.
Where this leaves you
Reflect back to the New Moon in Taurus on May 16th. What did you plant then? What’s actually taken root? Make a note of it. Taurus likes a proper count. Celebrate what has grown, honour the harvest before moving on. Then be honest about the weeds, and the things that didn’t germinate.
With the earth back in the sky, let yourself be nourished. Sleep longer. Eat well and slowly. Light the fire. Hold the people you love. Put your bare feet on cold grass and feel how fast you come back to yourself. This Moon is exalted, and an exalted Moon gives most generously to the ones who receives without guilt.
And when the fixed cross presses, when you feel the grip tighten around what you think you have to hold on to, go to the open arm. Give something away. Raise someone else’s roof. Walk up the steps. And ask; ‘What am I holding on to that I can’t feed through the winter, and what is waiting a few steps away if I let it go?
Wishing you all infinite full moon love and blessings.
LAST CHANCE!
If this Moon has you looking at your home and wondering what it’s really holding, my seven-week course with The Shift Network, Shamanic Feng Shui, begins on Tuesday October 27th, the day after this full Moon.
It weaves feng shui, geomancy and four decades of shamanic practice into a way of living with your space as an ally rather than a backdrop. The Sun’s symbol this month is a village raising a house together, and I’d love you to come and raise yours with us.
There’s still time to join.
